WAKE Up and Read is a community coalition of 30+ agencies in Wake County committed to ensuring that ALL children across Wake County read proficiently by the end of 3rd grade. As the local affiliate of the National Campaign for Grade Level Reading, we focus on three key areas: school readiness (birth-5), learning opportunities (K-5), and engaged families.

You don’t want to miss the next Parent Leader Network event on Saturday, April 13th!

If your child ever becomes anxious about reading or you are looking for routines and strategies to build your family’s toolkit, let us help you! We will be sharing resources to help ensure your child is ready to read.

We will also continue our social and emotional wellness deep dive for the month of April; with guest speakers Dimica Lawrence, from Aspire Counseling Group and Jennifer Castillo of the Resiliency Collaborative.

These dynamic facilitators will walk us through developmental stages of resilience, productive struggle, grounding techniques, and activities to do with our children at home. RSVP today to take advantage of this resource. Books, brunch, and a children’s session for ages 4+ will be provided.

Through the network, parents and caregivers will have the opportunity to experience literacy in a creative way. Families will share, learn, and support each other all while having fun!
