WAKE Up and Read is a community collaboration focused on the goal of having all students reading on grade level by grade three. This initiative originated as a Grade-Level Reading Campaign grant proposal. Key leaders from education, business, civic, philanthropic and non-profit agencies are participating in the collaboration. The focus of this national initiative targets three areas: school readiness, regular school, attendance, and summer learning. The local WAKE Up and Read Campaign has elected to focus initial energies around the first pillar, school readiness.

From March 2 – March 29, 2014, WAKE Up and Read will collect new and gently-used books for children ages birth-12. Our goal is to collect 40,000 books in four weeks—enough to share at schools and child care facilities across the county.
There are many ways to support the WAKE Up and Read Book Drive.
